I Still Love You (Now and Then) - Josh Ritter

Mi canción de hoy es para el último single de Josh Ritter. El adelanto del que será su décimo álbum de estudio, Fever Breaks. Un nuevo trabajo que verá la luz a finales de abril, el día 26. Diez nuevas canciones que seguro no tienen desperdicio, como todo lo que edita el de Idaho.  El corte elegido para presentar este nuevo trabajo, no va precsiamente en la línea del animado corte que anunciaba su anterior álbum (getting ready to get down). La canción elegida va en la línea contraria. Un corte sereno, sosegado. Un tema intimista, llamado I Still Love You (Now and Then), en el que este genial single songwirter norteamericano, nos deleita con su capacidad vocal y su creatividad compositiva. Demostrando que menos es más y que el minimalismo musical, está plagado de belleza. Un lujo cerrar el día con  una canción tan redonda de Josh Ritter ;) Agur!

Josh Ritter es un singer/songwriter de folk, rock, indie, de Moscow, pero el de Idaho (USA), claro, 8). Las canciones de Josh Ritter, son un extraño regalo de belleza natural, intuitiva. Con influencias de Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen o Leonard Cohen. Con un presupuesto muy ajustado, grabó su primer disco autoeditado, que llevaba su propio nombre, Josh Ritter (1999). Poco después, grabó también auto producido por él, otro con el que se abrió camino “Golden Age of Radio” (2001). Las críticas del modesto disco decían: “deslumbrante”, “elegante” y “maldito hasta la perfección. Josh conoció a Glen Hansard, líder de The Frames, que le invitó a abrir una actuación del grupo en Irlanda y comenzó a desarrollar su carrera en dicho país. En 2003, Josh entró a los estudios, con productor irlandés, a grabar ”Hello Starling”. Su cuarto álbum de estudio, lleva por título The Animal Years (2006). Un año después publicó, The Historical Conquests of Josh Ritter (2007), con gran acogida entre la crítica especializada. Con So run the world away (2010), su quinto álbum, llegó la confirmación para los más escépticos. En 2013, presentaba un señor discazo llamado The Beast in Its Tracks (2013), último álbum de estudio hasta la fecha.
